MONASTRELL

MONASTRELL

It is the principal variety of the wines coming from the D.O Jumilla. It is also known as Alcayata, Garrut, Gayata, Mandó, Mataró, Monastrell, ourvédre, Murviedro and it is widely considered
as the native variety of the Mediterranean area of Spain. We could predominantly find this variety in the vineyards of Murcia, Alicante and south of Albacete. It is cultivated in all the Mediterranean area, from Cataluña to Granada and also in the southeast of France.
It is a very resistant plant that adapts well to droughts and frost. In this area, it is very strange of it suffering from any disease and its cultivation could be considered as almost organic, as it doesn’t need any pesticide treatment apart from sulfur to prevent fungal diseases.
It comes in large bunches; berries are also small sized and thick skinned.
Its full potential is obtained wine grapes harvested ripe. It gives wines with high alcohol content, not too acidic, tannic, with intense color and very aromatic. They are suitable for
aging.

SYRAH

SYRAH

Its origin is not well known, but it’s believed that its name comes from Shiraz, in Iran. Other theories think that the name comes from the Rhône Valley.
It is also known as Candive Noir, Entournerein, Hermitage, Hignin Noir, Petite Syrah, Plan de la Biaune, Schiraz, Serine, Seräne, Shiraz, Sirac, Sirah, Syra and Syrah.
It is widely cultivated all over the world, in the centre and in the south of Spain and France, and overall in countries such as Chile, Argentina and Australia.
They are very acid wines, with body, tannins, and deep coloured and with fruity and floral aromas.

MERLOT

MERLOT

It comes from Bordeaux Region and it is one of the most frequent varieties all over the world. It is cultivated in almost all Spain. It is also known as Merlot Noir.
It is a vigorous plant, with high productivity and early sprout. But it could suffer from spring frosts. It is very resistant to diseases. Its branches are cylindrical, of medium size but very dense. The grapes are medium sized, black-blue.
It gives very aromatic, soft and fine wine. It is Ruby often, giving tasting notes of herbs and spices. The nose is fruity. It holds the oak aging well

RED GARNACHE

RED GARNACHE

It is a red variety. It is also known as Alicante, Aragonés, Cannonao, Granaccia, Granaxa, Greache Rouge, Lladoner, Lladoner Negro, Navarra, Rousillon Tinto, Rousillon, TintoAragonés.
It is one of the most cultivated varieties in Spain. It is considered a native of Aragon, but it is also known as Alicante, so its origin may be in the Southeast. It is also cultivated in France, where it is called Grenache. Very vigorous vine, needs little water intake. The plant is very productive,goodresistance to cold.
The clusters are medium sized and compact. The grapes are medium, sweet red oval and dark purple. It provides balanced mixtures and ages well.
The wines are balanced, alcohol, full bodied, acidic and slightly astringent. The aromas are delicate and fruity. On the palate they are fleshy and soft.

AIREN

AIREN

It is native of La Mancha. It is the most planted variety in Spain. In the world, it occupies 30% of the area of vineyards, making it the most widely cultivated.
Synonymy: Lairén, Aiden, Manchego, valdepeñero and Forcallat white.
Hard stock.Drought and disease resistant.Productive.Large, tight clusters. Berries large, round, golden color.
Airen variety produces wines with fruity aromas. Pale and moderate acidity.Traditional young wines.

VERDEJO

VERDEJO

It is a white grape of Spain. Grape variety brought back into our area. With an excellent adaptation to the climatic and soil type in our area. Also known as Botón de Gallo Blanco, Gouveio, Verdeja, White Verdeja, Verdelho or Verdello.
It is a high quality grape, one of the best white grapes in Spain. The vine is vigorous and trunk horizontal transport.. Leaves are small to medium, pentagonal, reticular sinus medium rare open lyre back glabrous, nerves and with no or very low hair density. Cluster of small to medium size, very short peduncle. Berries small to medium, usually spherical and yellow, their seeds are usually large, pointing to the light when looking at the grapes.
Usually cultivated alone or together with other grapes.It produces very aromatic wine, full bodied, glyceric and soft. Good acidity and characteristic bitter taste
